Getting to Waterfront Dining

How to get to:


Waterfront City and NewQuay Restaurants and Cafes

By Tram:

  • Catch the FREE City Circle tram or the No. 70 tram from Flinders Street to NewQuay or Waterfront City / Harbour Town, or
  • Take the No. 86 tram via Bourke Street to NewQuay or Waterfront City / Harbour Town

By Train:

Take the train to Southern Cross Station and exit:

  • at the northern (Etihad Stadium) end, then its only a 15 minute stroll over the Bourke Street Pedestrian Bridge to the waterfront. Turn right and walk along the NewQuay and Waterfront City Promenades to a great selection of restaurants and cafes
  • at the southern (Collins Street) end and take the FREE Docklands shuttle bus to Harbour Town departing from Collins Street, operating Friday to Sunday, 10am - 6pm, departing on the hour and half hour

By Car:

Access via Footscray Road to Pearl River Road or Waterfront Way. Or travel along Harbour Esplanade to Docklands Drive.

Victoria Harbour Restaurants and Cafes

By Tram:

  • Catch the FREE City Circle tram or the No. 70 tram from Flinders Street to Bourke Street stop (outside the colourful National Australia Bank building). Walk along the Victoria Harbour Promenade to find a selection of waterfront cafes. Or walk along Bourke Street to Merchant Street for more dining options.
  • Alternatively, take No. 48 Tram from Collins Street to Victoria Harbour. At the end stop, you will find a number of cafes along Merchant Street and Bourke Street. Or exit outside the ANZ Centre, walk through Docklands Park, across Bourke Street to the harbour where you will find a selection of waterfront cafes.

By Train:

Take the train to Southern Cross Station and exit:

  • at the northern (Etihad Stadium) end, walk over the Bourke Street Pedestrian Bridge to the stairs leading down onto Bourke Street, or
  • at the southern (Collins Street) end. Turn right into Collins Street and walk to Batman Hill Drive. Cross the road, turn right into Waterview Walk and head towards Bourke Street and the harbour. You can cross Bourke Street / Harbour Esplanade and find a selection of waterfront cafes or you will find a selection of cafes along Bourke Street and Merchant Street.

By Car:

  • Access from the south via Charles Grimes Bridge, which takes you along Harbour Esplanade to Collins and Bourke Streets, Victoria Harbour.
  • Access from the city along Collins Street, direct into Victoria Harbour
  • On-street pay parking is available along Harbour Esplanade and Bourke Street.
  • Pay car parking facilities are available at: 800 Bourke Street Merchant Street Cnr Bourke Street and Corporation Way

Yarra's Edge Restaurants

By Tram:

  • Catch the FREE City Circle tram or the No. 70 tram from Flinders Street to Docklands Park stop. Follow the pathway through the park, walk over the Yarra River via Webb Bridge to a selection of cafes along River Esplanade at Yarra's Edge, or
  • Catch No. 48 Tram from Collins Street to the ANZ Centre. Follow the pathway through Docklands Park, walk over the Yarra River via Webb Bridge to a selection of cafes at Yarra's Edge.

By Train:

  • Take the train to Southern Cross Station and exit at the southern (Collins Street) end. Turn right into Collins Street and walk to Docklands Park. Follow the pathway through the park, walk over the Yarra River via Webb Bridge to a selection of cafes at Yarra's Edge.

By Car:

  • Take the Montague Street exit off the Westgate Freeway. Turn into Lorimer Street and you have arrived at Yarra's Edge. Parking is available at Point Park and other locations along Lorimer Street.
