Docklands is divided into precincts, each with its own distinct character and mix of residential, retail and commercial activities. This approach ensures that Docklands develops as a vibrant and diverse community while enhancing its attraction as a local and visitor destination.
NewQuay, along with Waterfront City and Docklands Studios Melbourne, make up the northern precincts of Docklands, while Digital Harbour sits between NewQuay and the Stadium Precinct. The Stadium precinct is home to Etihad Stadium and the surrounding area and overlooks the central precinct made up of Victoria Harbour with its distinctive peninsula and Central Pier.
Batman’s Hill represents the interface between Docklands and the traditional CBD and incluces the Media House development, Kangan Institute, the Watergate apartment complex and historic Railway Goods Shed No 2. The southern precinct is home to Yarra’s Edge, which runs along the Yarra River.
