Winners of the 'Visit Docklands and Win a Trip to London' competition

Destination Docklands is delighted to announce the winners of the “Visit Docklands and Win a Trip to London” competition.

Thousands of people enjoyed everything Docklands had to offer over the last couple of months including Audi Victoria Week, the Melbourne International Boat and Lifestyle Show, the Japanese Summer Festival and the Anatolian Culture and Arts Festival.

Only one person will get to enjoy the very best we had to offer and that is Alyssa Novitski from Ringwood. Alyssa, who loves to visit the Docklands regularly and Harbour Town Shopping Centre in particular where she made a number of purchases before entering our completion, had an idea for a tour of Docklands in a board game format:

“With shopping and food and fun galore
There’s so much to do you’ll come back for more
A game for all ages so drop all your plan
As we take you on a tour of our favourite Docklands!”

Highlighting all of the amazing activities, shops, restaurants and more around Docklands, the imaginative concept resulted in her being awarded first prize of a trip to London for 4 including airfares, accommodation and spending money to the value of $13,000.

When we phoned Alyssa to tell her she had won first prize, she could not believe it. She was so excited but could not make much noise because she works as a receptionist! She said her family had never won anything and she had never been overseas before.

Alyssa is planning on taking the trip in June this year with her husband and two best friends. She is hoping to extend her stay and visit as many countries as possible.

Mario Chrisanthou won second prize for his fabulous rhyme outlining everything his family loves about Docklands:

“Our family likes variety, Docklands – place to be,
Easily accessible! City Circle tram transports us FREE
Kids visit Icehouse! Wonderland! Mini Golf too,
Mum adores outlets – many bargains to pursue!
When time to retire, family enjoys waterfront dining,
Abundance of food choices, prevents kids whining!!
100% satisfaction,
World class attraction!

We sure think so! His accompanying diorama added to the impression made, depicting much of what Docklands has to offer. Mario will get to stay in a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment at the Docklands Melbourne Grand Mercure, a dinner for four at the fabulous James Squire Brewhouse and a family pass to Wonderland Fun Park.

Finally, third prize of a dinner for four at the James Squire Brewhouse and a family pass to Wonderland Fun Park went to Michael Ward for his wonderful rhyme:

“Friday night’s the footy
The waterfront’s aglow
The bars are hopping, restaurants packed
Docklands: the place to go!
Saturday we’re back again
The kids yell, “Wonderland!”
Sunday, time for shopping
(Therapy you understand)
Docklands makes our weekend
Docklands is a treat
For fun that’s family friendly
Docklands can’t be beat!

Thank you to everyone that took the time to enter our amazing competition. We received an incredible response with some fantastic poems, rhymes, songs and ditties, that it took a number of people from when the competition closed until the last minute the next day to decide the winners.
